Welcome to the GREEN Pages on the Waldorf Web Site! Here you will find completed research on safe and ecologically supportive products in categories ranging from paper towels to “green” architects, from printing paper to floor cleaners. This offering is to help our Waldorf schools fulfill a yearning they have reported of wishing to be as reverent in their institutional practices as they are in the classroom. All products listed have been approved by a third-party organization devoted to analysis of the quality and eco-friendliness of commodities.
There are two or three layers to this research. The first layer is the simplest: go to the product you want; see a few choices there; pick and order in confidence that it is a good product that supports the environment. The deeper layers are provided with the hope that these will help teachers in our upper lower schools and in our high schools to find materials for chemistry class, soap and paper making, teaching young people in skills that will serve the environment; and commentary on the different kinds of certification, research, product ingredients and labeling available now.
Our hope is that this information will ease the complex labyrinth faced when investigating environmental issues and products. Let us know how helpful it is and ways we can improve this section of the web site.
Contract Addendum (pdf) This 'contract addendum' document is meant to assist schools in writing or updating contract agreements with cleaning/maintenance individuals or companies. The best-practice standards for each area may be used as benchmarks and/or in conjunction with the green products listing to assist the school and the service providers and vendors in meeting green cleaning goals.
